Have you completed your “back-to-school” attitude tune-up yet?  It’s already August!  Now you may think “Back-to-School” is a strange topic for a Silver Fox to address, but for those of us in the double-decker sandwich generation, back-to-school is a hot topic! Our family, which is scattered throughout the country, is four-generational:  aging parents, the Baby Boomer (me!), my daughter, and her children.

So, reality is that school is a topic for many long-distance calls, including last night’s consultation on zero tolerance.  A new term for me, zero tolerance refers to the school discipline policy of “we (the teachers and administration) are in charge and we refuse to let you (students) fight, do drugs, smoke, carry guns, etc. in our school.”   

As school starts this year, help your family get ready.  If every Silver Fox reader influenced just a few students, our schools would be safer.  Do an attitude adjustment with just one student, or a dozen or a whole roomful…pass the word for safe schools!
