Sometimes it is really easy to get behind the times – new products show up in a blink of an eye!  This is the case with the new diaper cakes.  I was picturing something totally different at the mention of “diaper cakes”.  If you don’t know what one is, time to get up to speed!

As a Silver Fox, you may be invited to a baby shower and need a unique gift.  Heads up, guys, it seems that the baby shower is no longer a ladies only event, so you may be expected to attend or send a gift!  Searching on the Internet for diaper cakes, I found several suggestions, even instructions on making my own!  A diaper cake is all the rage now with the Hollywood set.  Used as the centerpiece for a baby shower, the “cake” is made of diapers, rattles and assorted baby products, all tied in a pretty pink or blue fabric package.  The new mother uses the diaper cake as a decoration in baby’s room, until that particular size of diaper is needed, when the cake’s products are used. 

Another gift idea is a laundry basket filled with baby products.  A better idea was some form of music that the mother-to-be can play now and then later to soothe the baby.

A new site, Diapercakepro, should be one to watch.  The heading is bright and cheerful, with a promise of some future shopping development, hopefully some good baby shopping.  I’m hoping to find a diaper cake under $50.  (Just a case of wanting a Hollywood gift on a Silver Fox pre-retirement budget.)
