Retirement is the time when one decides to stop working. There are different types of retirement, but eventually everyone dreams of that day when they can completely retire. Fulfilling this lifetime dream and not having to answer the demands placed on you is everyone’s goal. One is able to explore life to the fullest.
When retirement does occur, many are faced with the question to move or not; this is a life changing decision. Deciding where to live can lead to years of happiness, or cause you to miss what you have worked so hard for. What are your goals for retirement? Do you locate close to good medical care, or do you locate near peaceful surroundings? Another option that is increasing in popularity is retiring in a college town. Here you have opportunities for cultural events and sporting events. Most college towns have excellent medical facilities.
North Carolina and Florida are the most popular places to retire. College towns are ranked high also, and at the top of the list are resort areas, such as Myrtle Beach and Palm Springs. So, before you decide to move, do some research; don’t decide immediately. Visit communities, talk to your peers, review your preferences and consider your interests. If you enjoy outdoor recreation, you most likely want to be in an area that stays warm all year round. Before you make your decision, develop a questionnaire that will help you in deciding which destination is best for you.
